The Department of Kinesiology believes strongly that our intellectual community is enriched by the inclusion of diverse faculty, staff, and students. We define this diversity broadly to include (but not be limited to) race, ethnicity and national origins, gender and gender identity, sexuality, age, education, socioeconomic status, and religion. As a Department, we identify and promote practices and structures that support diversity development in the Department’s work. We especially encourage individuals from underrepresented groups to join our intellectual community.
The inclusion of underrepresented groups across the Department is important:
(1) to address and understand health and wellness disparities
(2) to facilitate the inclusion of diverse leaders with diverse ideas within the discipline.
(3) to cultivate an inclusive civil discourse among diverse parties.
